Built as a four-part series, DWID bridges art, fashion, and community through intentional storytelling and world-class execution.
The series unfolds in four movements — each representing a distinct layer of Detroit’s creative ecosystem:
The Design Lab – a hands-on incubator where ideas meet craftsmanship. Here, designers experiment, prototype, and push boundaries in collaboration with stylists, photographers, and producers.
The Fashion Show – a live celebration of artistry and innovation, where Detroit’s designers take the runway to present original collections inspired by the city’s culture, resilience, and imagination.
The Scholarship – an annual initiative supporting emerging Detroit women in design, providing resources, mentorship, and funding to help bring their visions to life.
The Gallery – a curated exhibition highlighting the work, process, and inspiration behind the movement—connecting audiences to the creative depth of Detroit’s design community.
Together, these four series form the foundation of Detroit Women In Design — a platform built to celebrate creativity, empower collaboration, and redefine what it means to design from Detroit.
